ENTERTAINMENT – Mass Effect: Andromeda Features Gay Storyline

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Mass Effect: Andromeda has got an incredibly sweet, a very sexy and incredibly rewarding gay romance. In one of the most LGBTI inclusive moves we have seen in a video game, the game allows you to start a rainbow family of your own. As Scott Ryder (you can also play twin sister Sara if you like) in the year 2163, you meet chief engineer on the Tempest – Gil. You can flirt with him over a poker game, and the two of you enter into a relationship. First off there’s a kiss. By Joe Morgan – Full Story at Gay Star … Read more

Overwatch – Videogame Reveals Groundbreaking Queer Storylines

Overwatch

Gaming company Blizzard Entertainment revealed it will feature progressive LGBTI storylines in an update of its game, Overwatch. During a Q&A with the game’s lead writer, Michael Chu, he revealed there will be more than one LGBTI character: ‘Like we said, it’s very important for us to have diversity and inclusiveness of all types, and that includes LGBT characters. There are definitely LGBT heroes [in Overwatch] — that’s multiple heroes.’ ‘We want the stories about characters relationships — and not just romantic, but familial relationships and stuff like that — to come out in the course of stories that we … Read more

“Escape From Pleasure Planet” Brings Gay to Sci Fi Video Games

Escape From Pleasure Planet

The creator of the incredibly named My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant is currently funding a follow-up: Escape From Pleasure Planet. Escape from Pleasure Planet follows the story of Captain Tycho Minogue as he battles the devilish (and dangerously handsome) criminal Brutus, who he must track down. For Luke Miller, the creator of these gay-themed science-fiction adventure games, there was an easy connection to be made between the nature of both narratives. “I was looking for gay and science fiction themes that were complementary to each other,” Miller says. “In the gay community there’s often hedonism combined with repression. Pride Comes to Grand Theft Auto

OK, so it’s not specifically speculative fiction. But it’s a video game, which is at least adjacent. And I loved the screen cap: In Grand Theft Auto V, you might be used to sleeping with prostitutes and stealing cars but have you ever thought about waving a rainbow flag? But now with a new mod, in conjunction with Stockholm Pride, GTA5 fans can now be part of the LGBTI community in Los Santos. The new update was partially conceived as a tribute to the 49 murder victims of the Pulse shooting in Orlando. By Joe Morgan – Full Story at … Read more

Sci Fi Game Technomancer Includes Gay Scene

Technomancer_Gay_Sex_Scene-560x280

The game industry is making progress in trying to get away from the stereotype that the only people that play are straight white men in their 40s living in their mother’s basement. And that can be seen in The Technomancer, a science fiction action RPG set on Mars 200 years after colonization. Unlike the majority of games of this type, this one features something different: a gay sex scene. By Joe Morgan – Full Story at Gay Star News

Marvel Video Game Outs Gay Superhero

Union Jack

The game, which features alternate younger versions of the classic Marvel characters attending a not-at-all-like-X-Men superhero school, debuted Jack’s alter ego Brian Falsworth in an update. Tucked inside a story mission within the game is a minor revelation, when Black Widow approaches the character and attempts to flirt. He responds: “No offence, you’re not my type.” When asked if he prefers another female character instead, Falsworth responds: “I’m telling you I’m gay.” By Nick Duffy – Full Story at Pink News
