After many decades, several spin-offs and desperate fan pleas, it has finally happened – Scooby-Doo’s Velma is canonically a lesbian. In the movie animation Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!, viewers are treated to many scenes of Velma falling head over heels for Coco Diablo, head of a notorious crime syndicate. And it is extremely gay. This confirmation of Velma’s queerness explicitly on the screen has been a long time coming, with a history of queer coding, cut scenes and spiked queer plot lines consistently disappointing LGBTQ+ fans. TV: Marvel’s “Ironheart” Cast Gets Trans NB Actor

Trans non-binary actor Zoe Terakes has been cast in a key role in the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, Deadline reports. The actor, who starred in Prime’s Nine Perfect Strangers, is the second trans actor to be cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the first in a Disney+ series. They follow in the footsteps of trans man Zach Barak who played Zach Cooper in Spiderman: Far From Home. Full Story from Pink News

TV: Netflix Cancels LGBTQ+ spy series Q-Force

Queer adult animated series Q-Force will not be returning to Netflix, having been axed after just one season. Variety confirmed Q-Force had been officially cancelled on Monday (8 August), after star Matt Rogers first let the news slip on the Attitudes! podcast in May. The show followed the misadventures of a group of undervalued LGBTQ+ spies, with a cast that also included Will & Grace’s Sean Hayes, Wanda Sykes, Patti Harrison, Gary Cole and Stranger Things’ David Harbour.
