Review: Untouchable, by LV Lloyd

Untouchable, by LV Lloyd

I just finished a book I’d been planning to read for a long time – LV Lloyd’s “Untouchable”. It’s a space opera, and the fifth book in Lloyd’s Aurigan series. It’s also the first full-length book I have read by Lloyd. I really enjoyed the book. In a nutshell, it’s about several “oms” (Aurigan parlance for homosexual) on the patrol ship Qatar. The story opens with a bang – with one of them on trial for raping a minor, the son of his best friend. Then it spins back to the situation that resulted in the trial, and off we … Read more

Review: Credence

Credence

I’m a huge fan of science fiction, but it’s rare that you get a good science fiction story that features a gay man in any meaningful way. In new short film Credence, writer/director Mike Buonaiuto gives us a well-crafted story about John (Anthony Topham) and Scott (Alex Hammond) – with the destruction of Earth imminent, these two men must decide whether to send their daughter Ellie (Tia Kenny) away in order to save her. Our inaugural reader topic comes from QSFer Richard Wood: As a reader rather than author I am interested in reviews and critiques. With ebooks and “Print on demand” publishers it has become almost … Read more

Review: Lore & Logos, by Matthew P. Buscemi

Lore and Logos

I came to this book in kind of a round-about way. Matt is one of our newer folks in the Queer Sci Fi group, and he posted this one a few weeks ago on a Me Me Monday. The cover is soooo NOT sci fi – but there’s a reason for that – you’ll just have to read the Acknowledgement. We ended up talking a bit online, and he offered to send me a copy. Great, I thought, another eBook to throw on the stack. But Matt surprised me – he’s kind of old school, and really likes printed books … Read more
