Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has said she is “excited” to play a queer superhero in love in upcoming X-Men spinoff The New Mutants. Filmmaker James Gunn has revealed that he was blocked from depicting Velma as a lesbian in the 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo film. The film’s writer and director spilled the tea about behind-the-scenes wrangling over the camp classic, which starred Linda Cardellini as Velma Dinkley.
