HISTORY: When Gay Sex “Rocked” the World

gay lovers - rock

An 11,000-year-old pebble believed to be one of the earliest depictions of sex is to go on tour in an LGBTQ themed exhibition. The Ain Sakhri Lovers, a figurine carved from a pebble, will be one of the artefacts shown in a new touring exhibition from the British Museum to celebrate LGBTQ history. As the people depicted in the Ain Sakhri Lovers are ambiguously gendered, the British Museum does not state they are heterosexual and have therefore included the artefact as a potential early representation of gay sex. American Gods Gets Gay and Steamy

American Gods

The series American Gods has aired what some critics have called “the single hottest and most pornographic gay sex scene ever put on mainstream television.” As Towleroad’s Adam Rhodes reported earlier this month, the new series, adapted from Neil Gaiman’s 2001 novel of the same name, tells the story of a battle between old and new gods in an American setting and features a steamy sex scene between Omid Abtahi, who plays a young Muslim man named Salim living in New York, and Mousa Kraish, who plays a spiritual messenger, or jinn, disguised as a taxi driver. MF Sex in MM Speculative Fiction

Gay Sci Fi Sex

Today’s topic comes from QSFer Beth Brock: “Does FF or FM sex have any place in MM sci fi? Always, sometimes, never? And why?” This kinda goes hand in hand with the question – does MM sex have any place in MM sci fi / fantasy / paranormal. And that leads us to the whole romance spec fic vs. “regular”spec fic. They are really two different beasts. My take – MM sex is fine (and expected) in romance spec fic, and other variations should be used if/when they forward the story. In general, in “regular” spec fic (that’s science/magic or … Read more

Why No Gay Sex in Game of Thrones Books?

I understand that most people watch the HBO series “Game Of Thrones” for its copious and brutal acts of violence and for its regular bouts of carnal exercise. It’s noticeable, however, that this carnal exercise has explicitly been of the heterosexual variety in George R.R. Martin’s books, though that’s not the case on the TV show adapted from the novels. Why might this be?… “Frankly, it is the way I prefer to write fiction because that is the way all of us experience life. You’re seeing me from your viewpoint, you’re not seeing what someone over here is seeing,” Martin … Read more
