Rachel Pollack, an award-winning trans author, tarot expert and comic book writer credited with creating the first mainstream transgender superhero character, has died aged 77. Pollack was a prolific writer and leading authority on divinatory tarot who published seven novels and four collections of short stories from 1971 onwards, along with more than 20 non-fiction books. Sarah Gailey and Hannah Templer’s The Vampire Slayer – a tie-in for the renowned tv series – confirmed that vampire slayer Faith Lehane is queer in its 11th issue. The character first debuted in season three of the show, becoming one of its most significant characters. While her sexuality was subtly hinted at in the television series – which caused some criticism by those accusing the show of queerbaiting – it was fully confirmed during the tie-in comic series. The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers is about to get a new non-binary villain called the Death Ranger, somehow making the series even queerer.
