Every year I take part in the Blogging From AZ April project. It’s always about the same characters, only I use a slightly different theme.
This year it’s Character Origins. When did these characters come to me? What inspired them?
One year it was Character Conflicts. What is the main conflict for the character in the plot?
Another year it was Character Snippets. As with Rainbow Snippets, I posted six sentences of story involving these particular characters.
Every time I participate in this project, I’m reminded of these characters. I’m reminded of the stories I’ve written. Every time I learn something new about these characters and their stories.
Nor do I use blogging just during this time to propel my characters forth.
Mondays have been taken over by Conversations with Christopher. These blogs remind of Stealing Myself From Shadows and the other novels I’m working in the Tales of the Navel world. Novels I hope to finish and self-publish.
Only once a month, once a Monday, Quartz rears his head, reminding me pointedly he’s still around in Secondary Characters Speak Out. Pushing the plight of secondary characters, my own and other people’s. Reminding me that Of Cuckoo Clocks and Crystal Coffins, his own sequel to Fairest is waiting for revision and publication.
Sometimes I post freebie stories at the Cauldrons, my blogs. Sometimes I share poems or snippets of story. I’ve gotten addicted to Rainbow Snippets; our six-sentence weekend story sampler.
Sometimes I write about what I’m writing, what’s distracting me, what should and shouldn’t distract me. Sometimes I have a flight of fanciful fandom about other people’s stories which have captivated me.
What about you, dear reader? Do you blog? What do you blog about? Do your blogs inspire you? Distract you? Or inspire and distract you at the same time?
