About The Book

All beings—whether human, vampire, Sidhe, or were-creature—have a guardian angel.

Lily is one of the rare few who can see hers. Having qualified as a slayer to defend the ordinary from the supernatural, Lily believes she will now be able to unlock the secrets of her hidden past. However, battling werewolves and mages, she soon finds herself pitted against a seemingly invincible enemy. To make matters worse, the once unshakable bond with her guardian angel, Adrian, begins to crumble as he refuses to reveal the truth about her origins.

Amid a whirlwind of events, Lily teams up with a member of the secretive Order of Tenebrae. She grows closer to him as they embark on a desperate quest for the truth and go on to uncover an intricate web of intrigue rooted in her cryptic past.

The Review

At the age of eleven, Lily woke up in a hospital after a car accident. She had no memory of what happened, or anything about her parents. Fortunately, Lily’s godmother Alina arrived to take custody of her. Alina was a slayer, and she trained Lily to join her. When she passed her final test, Lily became a slayer too, joining Alina’s group.

Lily’s guardian angel, Adrian, is with her, and she has the ability to see all the guardian angels of any species. Finally, Lily reaches her eighteenth birthday, and is presented before the council to receive her license and to be officially welcomed as the newest and youngest slayer.

For the seven years she lived with Alina, she begged her to tell her about her past, with no results. She also begged Adrian to tell her, but he said he was not allowed to. So she kept hoping one of them would eventually reveal her past to her.

Her first assignment leads to her being attacked by a werewolf pack that seems to be focused on her. Is it something from her past. Since she’s being targeted, she is forbidden from going on any more missions until the one responsible is found. Lily is not one to just sit back and wait, so she goes on the hunt by herself, and is attacked by a mage who wants her dead. Then another mage saves her, killing her attacker.

Silas is the fifth member of the council, and like Lily, he has questions about why his friend attacked her and what secrets she might have. The members of the team believe that Silas is responsible for the death of one of their team, and he seems to be holding Lily hostage. What they don’t know is that she insisted on accompanying him, knowing that with him she would probably get the answers she has been seeking for the past seven years.

This book is full of surprises, secrets, betrayals and danger. It ends with a cliffhanger, but some of Lily’s past is revealed. I have no idea when book two will be coming out, but I can’t wait to read it!

4 stars.
