About The Book

Silas Thornwood’s worst nightmare has come to life. Darien’s familiar Pip is gravely injured, and Darien and Jasper have been kidnapped. Someone ruthless and violent is holding the man Silas loves prisoner, for purposes he doesn’t want to imagine. Silas needs help from his friends to locate and rescue Darien. And when he does, those responsible― whether sorcerer, human, or demon― are going to be truly, utterly sorry…

The Review

Silas Thornwood is battling various emotions when it comes to Darien Green. He’s missing Darien, even though he’s only a couple hours away. Darien’s off to visit Jasper for a couple weeks and work on a new spell design.

Pip is also going along with Darien. Silas is already feeling a little lost without them around and it’s given him a lot of time to regret what he’s gotten Darien involved in.

Unfortunately for Silas, he already made a commitment to attend a Guild meeting. He gets some disturbing information at the meeting – several Necromancers have died under suspicious circumstances.

Silas’ world tilts into full panic when he’s contacted by Clarice and Annie, who always look in on Jasper. Pip has been injured, and Jasper and Silas are nowhere to be found. Silas calls in favors from Mrs. Vaughn for a scry for Darien.

Silas, Magda, Fisher and the faithful familiars Grim and Pip are off to find Darien and Jasper.  Do they have an inkling of a chance to find them in time?  What evil are they facing – a dark sorcerer, a demon and men with guns?  Can they all survive the Veil?

Kaje Harper brings another fast-paced, action-packed, dangerous addition to the “Necromancer” series.  This story takes a look into dangerous books from the dark ages, and the progress of new discoveries in the realm of magic. Harper has a real knack at spinning a tale that’s filled with incredible, colorful and magical moments.

There’s always fun banter between Darien and Silas. Darien is so sweet with his teasing of Silas, and their emotional connection is growing deeper.

Darien also has to face his feelings about how his magic can do harm. With Darien’s new discovery, Silas wants to protect him even more.

There are many interesting secondary characters, too: Mrs. Vaughn and Magda, Annie and Clarice, Jasper, Fisher and of course Grim and Pip and all the familiars they meet along the way.  There’s also the Guild members Worthington, Locke, and Ferngold, a possible threat to Darien. And the real evil of Nikotorian, Zarunda and Lucinda.

Trapped by Greed is an entertaining and fun addition to the the “Necromancer” series! I can’t wait to see what Kaje Harper has in store for Silas and Darien and their relationship. I’m also curious about Grim and the secret of rats.

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California.  Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018.  My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen.  New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012.  She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series.  Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing.  I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews.  One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group.  Joining her site was such an eye opener.  I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
