The Review
Shifting Moon is Book 10 in the The Shifter Chronicles and involves Derek and Brian from ‘Psychic Moon’ (Book 1) in the war between shifters and the Knights. They help an injured wolf, only to get involved with the Knights and one of the dangerous scrolls.
Tommy, a young wolf shifter, together with his girlfriend Natasha, only just managed to escape from Gregor, a Knight and Arcas’ second in command, after managing to steal one of the scrolls from a museum exhibit at the same time as the Knight’s attempted robbery.
What follows is a race against time to protect the two teenagers and the scroll from discovery. This is not going to be easy, and will require help from outside agencies. Derek and Brian are not prepared for what follows, and it’s going to change their comfortable lives in ways they could never have dreamed. They have to renew their acquaintance with the Agency and call on Derek’s pack for help.
This a quite dark episode in the series, and revels in the skewed psychology of the Knights. They are seriously sick, and not at all good company. An example of this is when Gregor says he is ‘not the bad guy here,’ shortly before it is revealed he killed the innocent owners of the house he is hiding out in.
Thankfully we have the shifters and the Agents to provide a saner atmosphere to recover in. The storyline is really hotting up here, and the good guys do not get off lightly. The fight sequence is inventive and nasty, in a good way.
This is about the war being fought behind the scenes and you shouldn’t expect any happy-ever-afters just yet. There are intentional loose ends that are going to be addressed in the following episodes.
Yeah, I’ve read ahead so I know. You can too. You’ll enjoy the experience!

Tony is an Englishman living amongst the Welsh and the Other Folk in the mountains of Wales. He lives with his partner of thirty-six years, four dogs, two ponies, various birds, and his bees. He is a retired lecturer and a writer of no renown but that doesn’t stop him enjoying what he used to think of as ‘sensible’ fantasy and sf. He’s surprised to find that if the story is well written and has likeable characters undergoing the trails of life, i.e. falling in love, falling out of love, having a bit of nooky (but not all the time), fending off foes, aliens and monsters, etc., he’ll be happy as a sandperson who has just offloaded a wagon of sand at the going market price. As long as there’s a story, he’s in. He aims to write fair and honest reviews. If he finds he is not the target reader he’ll move on.
