About The Book
A sexy alien living incognito on Earth meets a sci-fi loving nerd who wants to rock his universe. What could possibly go wrong? Besides the unexpected tentacles and the accidental Mating Courtship Ritual, that is….
RIVER SULLIVAN
As a bona fide sci-fi nerd and total X-phile—the truth is out there—I’ve always believed in aliens. Duh. But I never thought I’d actually find them on Earth–let alone right here in Las Vegas! Now I’ve stumbled onto a big freakin’ secret and found my very own hot AF alien. I’m head over heels, but he’s being a total grump and holding back. How do I make him realize a geeky sunshine guy like me is just what he needs in his life? Did I mention he also has tentacles?!?! #HolyHentaiFantasyBatman #SwoonworthyAlien #SignMeUpSugar #MakeItSo #VivaLasVegas
KAI GENARO
The last thing I need in my life is a chatterbox twink who’s determined to woo me and could expose the secret existence of aliens on Earth to all humankind. Everything about him annoys me, including his stupidly attractive halo of golden curls and his bright green ‘come hither’ eyes. To make matters worse, he’s been recruited to work for the alien Alliance on Earth, and I’m assigned to keep him out of trouble. I don’t care how attractive he is. I don’t date humans! Except, my tentacles may have accidentally started the Mating Courtship Ritual with him…
It’s Not Unusual To Be Loved by an Alien (Tentacular Tales #1) is a (102,000 words) M/M sci-fi rom com featuring an adorkable twink with unexpected secrets and a slight obsession with extraterrestrials, the reluctant alien he wants to make his boo, tentacles with a mind of their own, zany extraterrestrial shenanigans in Sin City, and enough humor to fill an entire spaceship. This is the first book in the series. There is no cheating, and this book ends with a HFN. Never fear, the series guarantees readers an HEA by the end!
The Review
Loved this book, loved the characters and laughed my ass off.
River Sullivan is gay, lost his parents when he was ten, and now lives with his uncle Benji. River is obsessed with anything extraterrestrial, and is convinced that his new neighbor is an alien. Dragging his uncle along in the middle of the night to spy on Tom Jones (yes, that’s his neighbor’s name), he has no idea what following him will lead to, but his life will never be the same. No normal human being can live in Las Vegas and never turn on the air-conditioning or show signs of sweating, a dead giveaway Tom couldn’t be human.
Yes, aliens do exist. Tom makes the mistake of leading River and Benji right to the Alien Alliance Outpost on Earth.
Kai, the eldest son of the Admiral overseeing the Alliance, brings them into an interrogation room and proceeds to hypnotize Benji, removing any memory of having been at the Outpost. Unfortunately, the hypnosis does not work on River. Kai reveals the tentacles residing in his stomach and injects River, and is sure his memory has been erased. But he’s wrong.
River writes a sci-fi erotic space opera blog – The Tentacular Tales of Captain Starblade – and reveals the existence of real aliens on it. Those aliens read his blog and once again bring him in for interrogation. His blog is erased, only this time River finds himself a celebrity, since it seems that throughout the galaxy aliens have become obsessed with his blog, including Kai, who finds himself attracted to the human who never shuts up and who prances around non-stop.
River doesn’t hide his attraction for Kai, and he’s not scared of Kai’s tentacles either. He’s also not one to keep quiet about his feelings, or his thoughts, or really anything else going on around him. He is a constant source of humor, and I found it a joy.
After all attempts at clearing River’s mind fail, the next best thing is to hire him to work for them. Everyone is aware of his blog, and he sees Kai as the hero of his story, tentacles and all.
As a human, River proves himself very helpful to the cause. He and Kai tiptoe around each other for much of the story. River is determined to get Kai and Kai is determined to keep that from happening. In addition to everything that River gets involved with, there is a mystery to solve – a narcotic is being given to aliens making them do crazy thing that would reveal their existence to the world.
This book is full of surprises, secrets, drugs, romance, sex and did I say SURPRISES? River is the star of the story, and I can’t wait for book two – I’m sure it will be another fun read.
Five stars.
