Today we’re announcing our first annual Flash Fiction Contest. For our purposes, we’re defining Flash Fiction as 300 words or less. Stories can be Sci Fi, Fantasy, or Paranormal, or any combination of the three.
The theme? Endings – something that’s ending, whether it’s a life, an era, a relationship, a planet, a world, a society, an idea.
So be creative – come up with something that wows us in a short space – stories must be no longer than 300 words (not including title) and must fit the theme. Fiction with or without an LGBT romance. HEA not required. Must have LGBT characters or content.
Whether a submitted story meets these qualifications is at the discretion of the judges.
Stories will be judged by Angel Martinez and myself, and the top five entries will be posted on the site. The top entry will win our grand prize of $20 (hey, that’s 6.6 cents a word – not bad!). Authors must agree to first publication rights on the blog if chosen, but after that, the author can publish the story elsewhere immediately.
Please send your submissions in a Word (or compatible) file, using standard formatting, to scott@queerscifi.com by midnight on 11/30/14. Subject line should be FLASH FICTION CONTEST: Name of Story, Author. The winner will be chosen by 12/31/14.
Have fun!
