Excerpt

“Sorry mate, he’s taken.”

Xav turned his head so quickly he thought he’d given himself whiplash. His first, ridiculous thought was he’d been spot on with the height assessment. The speaker was a couple of inches shorter than him though he stood in a way that made the most of every single inch. That stare, which he’d imagined was enhanced by the cameras or studio lighting, was just as sharp and icy pale in real life, his eyes framed with the longest eyelashes he’d ever seen on a man.

“Who the fuck are you?” the first customer demanded, scowling. “I was here first.”

“And you’ve had your five minutes. Now fuck off and let the grown-ups talk,” the singer told him, shaking his head as if at the impertinence of the man.

“Holy shit!” Xavier exhaled, finally getting a word in, although a second later he silently cursed his typical eloquence and plastered a charming grin over the cracks in his composure.

Sadie Rose Bermingham

Sadie is older than they think they are, and has spent most of that life creating characters that take the place of children and other worlds that sustain them when the Real World gets too much to handle. They are the parental unit of vegetarian, vampire rock-tart, Rayne Wylde, half-leprechaun rebel-rouser, Malachai Valentine and human/communications-media interface Dr. Mari Gale.

Since the turn of the century they have written in collaboration with good friend and eternal muse, Bellora Quinn. Together Bellora and Sadie have created the extensive vampire series, The Rhythm of His Blood, which began life as a web-story and will be published by Pride Publishing from Spring 2024. They are also authors of the ongoing Elemental Evidence series, set in London, plus Demon Familiar, book one of a dystopian fantasy series called Wanted, which was published by Pride Publishing in May 2018. SRB also contributed a story, Waiting For Michael, to the Queer Sci Fi Flash Fiction anthology, IMPACT, in 2018.

SRB lives by the coast in the south of England with their partner Mr. Steve, collects penguins, adores the rock band Suede, and is the adopted parent of a tabby cat called Trouble.

Bellora Quinn

Originally hailing from Detroit Michigan, Bellora now resides on the sunny Gulf Coast of Florida where a herd of Dachshunds keeps her entertained. She got her start in writing at the dawn of the internet when she discovered PbEMs (Play by email) and found a passion for collaborative writing and steamy hot erotica. Soap Opera like blogs soon followed and eventually full novels.

The majority of her stories are in the M/M genre with urban fantasy or paranormal settings and many with a strong BDSM flavour.
