Last week, Ira Marlow pitched me on something intriguing:
I’d love to submit “The Unseen World” for review. It has a sweet queer love story central to its plot and thus far people are knocked out by the variety and quality of the songs. It’s been described as “The Matrix meets The Wizard of Oz” with references to Philip K. Dick, Mel Brooks and Sylvia Plath.
He had me at “Philip K. Dick, Mel Brooks and Sylvia Plath”. :P So while we don’t generally review podcasts, musicals, or “podcast musicals” (I mean, seriously, who knew?) I thought it was worth sharing.

The Story
Seven dimensions. Four humans. Three magic notes. And one remarkable ass.
The Unseen World is the story of Ralphie — struck down by an errant Uber a week before his wedding — and three people who plunge into the unknown in search of him. As we follow them, we used sound, color, and emotion to navigate through a rainbow series of monochrome worlds: the savage Green, the voyeuristic Blue, the sweetly predatory Purple. What we experience is provocative and disturbing and yet very often hilarious. In the end, The Unseen World challenges us to see our own world with renewed wonder and appreciation — and perhaps to work together to save it. Early responders have drawn comparisons to Rocky Horror, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Tommy. One listener described it as a cross between Philip K. Dick, Mel Brooks, and Sylvia Plath.
