Editor: Managing Editor
Contact: submission.mischiefcornerbooks@gmail.com
Payment: Info Provided with Offer, Royalty Paying
Description: Space ships. Alternative realities with faster than light travel. Time machines. Worm holes. A world thriving after a nuclear holocaust. Our Lost in the Stars line is our beacon for the future, where science fiction gives us hope and a way forward in turbulent times. Innovation. Technology. The Stars. All of them give us hope for a better tomorrow. Sometimes, though, there are those who would want to strip us of everything we fought for. Our heroes push on despite the odds and overcome the obstacles laid out before them to obtain their desires and each other.

  1. Romance first! But we want a nice genre plot too.
  2. This is for science fiction lovers. Some steampunk may apply – but we’re watching you.
  3. We are looking for solid world-building! It needs to make sense.
  4. The science needs to make as much sense as possible, otherwise it’s not science fiction. Yes, it’s romance first, but the science is important too.Must be a standalone story with no connection to any series or universe.
  5. We want emotion. Laughter, tears, and everything in between. The stories can be sweet or they can be sit-on-the edge of your pants suspense, but no angst please. You can run the gambit of light to dark, but don’t forget the HFN/HEA!
  6. If you are not sure if something will fit with this line, drop us an email.

A Taste of Romance – A collection of novellas where the food is as tasty as the sex. This collection focuses on romance and food, with the bonus of a recipe (original) of one of the dishes in each story. (Nearly complete. Need only 1-2 more courses.)

Swords and Sandals – Erotic tales of the ancient Mediterranean world. Tales from Rome, Greece, Egypt, and more. Out of Habit – Erotic tales of clergy – priests, priestesses, nuns, ministers, imams, rabbis, monks and acolytes. (Nearly complete. Maybe one more story?)

Breaking Gender – Erotic stories featuring transgender and/or gender non-conforming characters who take names and kick ass. Shapeshifters welcome! How about a steampunk, transwoman dom with an eyepatch? Or even the classic trope of a cabin boy who is a girl in disguise. As is always true at FF, we need strong plots and believable characters, not just sex scenes. (Nearly complete. Maybe a couple more stories?)

Southern Queer – Erotic stories of being queer (GLBT) in the American deep south. (Y’all need to get them in!)

Into the Wicked Woods – Erotic fairy tales where Ever After isn’t always so Happy, and everyone gets what’s coming to them. (Half-way there!)

Retro Future

Submission Deadline: Ongoing

Title: Retro Future
Genre: Sci Fi
Word Count: Essays and flash fiction of approximately 250-500 words is especially welcome; longer works may be serialized
Publisher: Galileo Books
Editor: John Carimando
Contact: retrofuturesubmissions@gmail.com
Payment: If your submission is selected you will be compensated.
Description: We welcome submissions of art and writing that approaches retrofuturism through a progressive lens. Essays and flash fiction of approximately 250-500 words is especially welcome; longer works may be serialized.

Comic submissions should be 1-8 pages of finished work. Anything longer may get serialized across multiple issues. Please note that inside art should be in grayscale (please refer to art and comic templates for details.)

Galileo Books acquires first serial rights; upon publication, these rights revert back to you, the author. We ask that you acknowledge Retro Future (Galileo Books) as the venue of original publication when the work appears in your book or is otherwise collected.

If a work becomes unavailable while under our review, please contact us via email. Submitted work for specific issues may be considered for other issues if themes fit.

Art and comic templates are located here.
(Dropbox will ask you to join, you can ignore that and click the ‘continue to download’ link)

Retro Future is a progressive publication. Subjects such as sexual violence, un-examined racism, and other potentially offensive material are often used as fodder for exposition in genre stories–this is not appropriate for inclusion in Retro Future.

We are looking for forward-looking and optimistic science and science-fiction. Sensitive topics can be part of a good story, but a vision of a future better than our present is the focus of Retro Future. Keep this in mind when submitting.
