FOR WRITERS
Today’s writer topic comes from QSFer Brandon Lesane:
How is queer horror different from straight horror? How can we adapt the conventions of “mainstream” horror for our own purposes?

HI!
Terry Gene here!
At the risk of again setting off fireworks, here is my question.
Sometime in the ’50s or early ’60s, a Horror Genre critic declared that there were only two (Jungian) motivations for horror.
a) an adolescent boy’s fear of castration
b) a woman’s fear of rape.
Any thoughts on:
1) is this a reasonable approach for critical reading of horror?
2) how would this be translated for LGBTQ?
In my Matryoschka Novel (http://matryoschka.com) (this month’s freebie in this forum), both fears drive the first part until the component genders of the MC give it a rest and concentrate on survival.
