FOR WRITERS

Today’s writer topic comes from QSFer Jim Comer:

The settings of fantastic adventure stories were once ‘lands across the sea’. Then ‘lost continents’, then ‘lost islands’, as the Earth became mapped. Then the ‘moon’ and ‘mars’ stories until 1965, when Mariner saw Mars’ craters. Then planets in the solar neighborhood until the 1990s and 2000s when we can see extrasolar planets, few of which are Earthlike. So we go farther and farther from ‘home’ to find places for our heroes to have adventures (or at least outdoor ones). What happens when we run out of frontiers to project our heroes and stories on?
