FOR WRITERS
Today’s writer topic comes from QSFer Olivia Wylie:
It seems like the ‘queer character as canary’ trope is rife in sci-fi. From the Handmaid’s Tale to V for Vendetta, killing queer characters is used as a indicator that Something Is Very Wrong In This World. How do you feel about this? What stories buck the trend and show queer characters as warriors, strategists or generally getting some agency in SF/dystopian settings?
