FOR READERS
Today’s reader topic comes from QSFer Alicia Nordwell:
Is there such a thing as too much dialogue in a story? Or too little?
Writers: This is a reader chat – you are welcome to join it, but please do not reference your own works directly. Thanks!
No, I don’t think there is a thing as too much dialogue…though, of course, your story should not resemble a script for a movie. What *is* a thing is too little of dialogue…All talk and no show makes reading a real struggle. Especially if a writer doesn’t have a real talent with words to make reading of all non-dialogue content enjoyable. A thing that is all too common, really.
