Yaoi has been one of the great loves of my life. As someone whom liked her men a lot prettier than many of her friends did, it was as if someone tailor made the most beautiful youths imaginable and set them loose in a social medium. Going Yaoicon was almost like going to Disneyland for the first time. I found ‘Tokyo Babylon’ and CLAMP, because of yaoi and Yaoicom. I also discovered ‘Yami no Matsuei’, ‘Ai no Kusabi’, and doujinshi, because of yaoi and Yaoicon. I discovered the beauty of cosplay and crossplay, because of yaoi and Yaoicon. I found out there was an entire genre which catered to women such as myself. Yaoi made me part of a community, which I truly love.
