Something really cool has happened. The organizers of Rainbow Con have asked for our input for the 2017 conference. The theme is Step Into Tomorrow: it’s a Sci Fi/Fantasy theme (which we may or may not have had something to do with, as RC 2015 was kinda stacked with QSF authors).
This is our chance to shape the topics we want to talk about next year. From Kris Piet:
The more ideas the merrier, but there are no guarantees. We’re looking for topics and take everyone’s suggestions seriously, but not every topic will be chosen just because it’s suggested. ;)
Also, please ask not only for the general topic but ALSO for the commenters to actually say a sentence or two about what they MEAN by the suggestion. We ran into that problem last year where we got suggestions, but we organizers took the topic in a different direction than what they had originally meant. It’s always good to have clarification so we know exactly what they would want a panel suggestion to actually cover. I hope that makes sense!
We welcome people using the “reply” function to reinforce someone else’s suggestion, too, or other aspects of the topic they would also like to see covered in a potential panel.
We’re looking for both reader and writer topics here covering all aspects of LGBTIQ/QUILTBAG sci fi and fantasy.
Please put your proposed panel title, followed by a detailed description. It doesn’t have to be super long – just give us the gist of what you’d like to see discussed. I’ll compile them later and get them off to Kris at RC. And don’t be afraid to jump in and elaborate on someone else’s idea in the replies.
Please also mark your calendars for July 6th through 9th 2017 – I’m gonna expect to see you all there!
