FOR READERS

Today’s reader topic comes from QSFer Ryane Chatman:

BDSM seems to prevalent in a lot of alien, vampire, shifter worlds. Is this a stop for you? If you are experienced in the world of kink (even if you are not) do you roll with the implausibility of some of the scenarios presented? Do you get instapissed when you see BDSM in a light that you feel is negative, ridiculous or physically impossible?

  1. I mentioned Anne Rice’s books as A. N. Roquelaire, but there was a much more consensual element in ‘Exit to Eden’, which she wrote as Anne Rampling. Another interesting tale was ‘Master’s Counterpoint’, by Larry Townsend. There was a far right bigot kidnapping young men and subjecting them to worse sort of non-con bondage. A therapist who was actually into the BDSM scene (although they called it SM) took serious umbrage at this, when he took one of the man’s victims in as a patient.
