FOR READERS AND WRITERS: Where’s the Line?

FOR READERS & WRITERS

Today’s writer topic comes from QSFer Tory Phoenix:

What is the difference between romance, erotic romance, erotica, and simple porn?

Not to suggest that there is anything wrong with porn, it has its place. Sometimes you just need some simple smut. But the demarcation between these seems to be a rather subjective and ghostly grey line. I am working on something I have called: Story driven SciFi Erotica. The sex is there when it drives the plot, F2B (Fade to Black) when it doesn’t. It could all be made F2B without breaking the story, and the plan is to have two versions. Based on the responses on the twitter thread, this puts me in the CR category with a high heat level.”
