Do you prefer a writer to stick with terms you can easily identify with or new terms for alien/fantasy items, government systems, titles etc.
Language can a wonderful medium to convey new terms, worlds, positions in an author’s universe. I need to be eased into them, rather than be confronted by them and trying to make sense of them.
