Eight Great Queer Web Comics

Bash Back

The quest for gay superheroes is steadily growing more insistent. A number of names, like X-Men’s Northstar and Iceman, have come out as gay, but it seems there is a truly big name missing, and nobody seems all too intent on changing it. But while the major publishers lag a little behind when it comes to queer representation in their work, the internet has you covered.

There’s a host of talented artists out there, and some of them have decided to take matters into their own hands and create awesome comics putting the LGBTI community center stage, in all its shapes, sizes and creeds. Here are X to get you started – further reading strongly encouraged!

1 Bash Back

Centering around Bas, a young trans guy, Bash Back is ‘an LGBTQ+ revenge story’, showing what would happen – or could happen – should the gay mafia decide to hit back at homophobes. On page 2, you’re immediately served the theme: ’But mark me – all of you. We will rise again. And they’ll all be sorry.’ And from then on, it’s a faced-paced, thrilling ride; we can’t wait for the next issue (which is in the works, according to the artists’ tumblr)!
