Discussion: Good and Evil in Fairy Tales

Spurred OnToday’s topic comes from QSFer Alicia Nordwell:

Many folk/fairy tale stories have a root theme of good versus evil in a fantasy setting. What are your favorite examples of this in a story and why? How do readers appreciate twisting those themes from earlier versions, ala Maleficent versus Sleeping Beauty, for example?

I love fairy tales, and especially fairy tale retellings, like Angel’s Vassily the Beautiful or Jon Keys’ Spurred On.

So let’s talk Fairy tales – the originals and the retellings. :)
