Are You Looking Forward to the Return of The X-Files?

X-Files

Unless you’ve you been living under a rock — or illegally detained in a small, poorly lit holding cell by a lying government who know way more than it’s telling us — you know about the upcoming return of The X-Files on Fox on January 24th. It’s a “thrilling, six-episode event series” from creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as “iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully”. ALso returning: Mitch Pileggi (Mulder’s and Scully’s boss, Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as “Cigarette Smoking Man”. The upcoming … Read more

News: When R2D2 Was a Homophobe

The new Star Wars is only a month away, with the excitement and hype driving fans into a frenzy. But the franchise isn’t completely faultless (and no, we’re not talking about Jar Jar Binks), inspiring some work that might not be what George Lucas intended. In one iteration of the lovable robot R2D2 in Mad Magazine, he was depicted as a massive homophobe. Full Story at Gay Star News

Interview With Miguel Angel Silvestre, Smoldering Star of ‘Sense8’

Miguel Ángel Silvestre

The wildly inventive story follows eight principle characters whose lives are mysteriously intertwined. And not just in overlapping narratives, but actually linked to each other’s minds and maybe (?) their physical bodies as well…. Also of interest are a handful of LGBT characters appearing throughout the series. There’s trans lesbian hacktivist Nomi (played by trans actress Jamie Clayton), her girlfriend Amanita (Doctor Who’s Freema Agyeman), smoldering Mexican closeted actor Lito (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and his handsome boyfriend, Hernando (Alfonso Herrera). News: Buildings of the Future?

The Interlace, one of Singapore’s most ambitious and unusual residential developments, has been crowned World Building of the Year 2015 at the World Architecture Festival. Built as a vertical village, OMA/Buro Ole Scheeren’s unique design strays away from the region’s classic housing – instead of clusters of isolated towers, the Interlace consists of 31 apartment blocks laced together. Opinion: What Will Happen to Our LGBT Literature?

One reason I’ve been writing all these years has to do with helping us feel good about ourselves. I’d like to think the cultural work that’s proliferated from the latter half of the twentieth century through today has contributed to building our strength so we could accomplish all we have. If the pendulum of history swings against us like a wrecking ball from the future, we’ll need the writing, the photographs, the women’s music–to stay strong, to be queer strong, just as we need it now. But will our stories be available twenty, fifty, a hundred years from now? I … Read more

News: NYC to London in 30 Minutes?

Gone are the days of Concorde, when passengers made a transatlantic crossing in just under four hours, but super-sonic commercial jets may be making a comeback. A new plane, in a patent phase, may be able to transfer passengers from NYC to London in about a half hour. The Skreemr was created by Charles Bombardier and Ray Mattison hope to one day use technology that compresses the incoming air for engine combustion (instead of a tank on board). The technology will then propel the lightweight plane to a jaw dropping 7,6723 mph–exceeding Mach 10. The plans so far would see … Read more

News: Men in Jetpacks Fly Beside Massive Airbus A380 in Spectacular Video

Last week we had flying cars. This week we have men in jetpacks. The future is here: Jetpack daredevils Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet recently partnered with Emirates Airlines for a stunt involving an Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger plane, over Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah and skyline with Burj Khalifa in the background. It’s an airspace Rossy and Reffet visited earlier in 2015. Rossy has also jetpacked over the Grand Canyon. Said Emirates COO Adel Al Redha of the stunt: “This display between man and machine celebrates the magic and beauty of flight, a feat which just over a hundred … Read more
