Queer Superheroes
The topic of queer comics and superheroes is getting a power boost with the first European museum exhibition dedicated to the genre, “Superqueeroes.” Running through Tuesday at the Schwules Museum in Berlin, the exhibition features depictions of mainstream characters such as the X-Men and Batman families as well as the underground art of queer comics from the fantastic to the everyday lives of LGBTQI people. Queer comics creator and historian Justin Hall (No Straight Lines: Four Decades of Queer Comics) is one of the many people who have helped curate the groundbreaking exhibition. Hall recently spoke with The Advocate about … Read more
News: Planet Nine From Outer Space
Scientists at Caltech believe they have confirmed the existence of a massive and icy ninth planet in our solar system. The planet was first speculated upon in 2014 paper which the Caltech team had set out to disprove. Via the Washington Post: They have inferred its existence from the motion of recently discovered dwarf planets and other small objects in the outer solar system. Those smaller bodies have orbits that appear to be influenced by the gravity of a hidden planet – a “massive perturber.” The astronomers suggest it might have been flung into deep space long ago by the … Read more
Alan Rickman – Professor Snape’s Story in Chronological Order
Someone has edited all of Snape’s story in the Harry Potter films into one chronological video. The result is pretty heartbreaking and his story looks pretty different when told this way around. Telling the story from when he was a child, the video uses flashbacks from in the film, but re-orders it into his full story from beginning to end. Full Story at Pink News

Neil DeGrasse Tyson Can’t Stop Laughing At A Gay Batman Joke
All-around likable guy/astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson certainly knows how to take a joke: with copious amounts of laughter. On a recent podcast in which Tyson was narrowing down the most scientifically-accurate super hero (because that’s what astrophysicists do in their spare time), Tyson’s co-host, comedian and radio personality Chuck Nice, makes an all-too-familiar string of cracks at the true nature of Batman and Robin’s relationship. Perhaps its Nice’s delivery, or maybe Tyson was just feeling giggly that day, but the noted scientist can’t get enough of it.
Star Wars: The Bad Lip Reading Treatment
The Force may be awakening, but you’ll want to return to the original three Star Wars films (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi) for a Bad Lip Reading treatment starring Jack Black, Bill Hader and Maya Rudolph. There’s a lot of musical moments in these three Bad Lip Reading videos, including an Obi-Wan song, Luke Skywalker getting down to a sick beat while fighting the Empire, and Yoda giving a performance that’s a little pitchy. There’s also talk of Darth Vader’s dirty emails to Leia, Han Solo’s “loose skin” and the search for the … Read more
The Totes Amazing Way Millennials Are Changing the Language
There’s a way that young people talk these days, and it’s totes hilars. You see it on Twitter a lot, people exclaiming about their totes delish spags or their totes redic boyfs. Linguists Lauren Spradlin and Taylor Jones call this practice “totesing” — the systematic abbreviation (“abbreviash”) of words to effect a certain tone. The fad might have started with “totally” becoming totes, but at this point, no entry in the English lexicon is safe. The following are some real words produced by real human beings on Twitter: totes tradge (tragic): David Bowie dying is totes tradge. bluebs (blueberries): Bluebs … Read more
