I’m a huge fan of science fiction, but it’s rare that you get a good science fiction story that features a gay man in any meaningful way. In new short film Credence, writer/director Mike Buonaiuto gives us a well-crafted story about John (Anthony Topham) and Scott (Alex Hammond) – with the destruction of Earth imminent, these two men must decide whether to send their daughter Ellie (Tia Kenny) away in order to save her. When I was a kid, my stepfather amassed an amazing collection of science fiction magazines. He had so many that he had his room lined in bookcases to hold them all. The covers seemed to be sending me messages, hot gay messages. Most of these covers were in my stepfather’s collection. Might as well start with the ne plus ultra of crypto-homo covers. Ryan Reynolds, or rather Deadpool, stars in a new PSA that’s all about keeping your man berries (or as Deadpool likes to call them, Smooth Criminals) from bringing about your untimely demise. Astronomers have discovered the largest known solar system, consisting of a large planet that takes nearly a million years to orbit its star. The gas giant is one trillion kilometres away, making its orbit 140 times wider than Pluto’s path around our Sun. Only a handful of extremely wide pairs of this kind have been found in recent years.
