Jeff Baker–Boogieman In Lavender

Queer 101                                                    By Jeff Baker               When I was scoping out markets for LGBT-themed science-fiction/Fantasy/Horror (1) short-stories (2) about five years ago, I decided to do my research. Not just into markets but into what sort of fiction of this type had been written and was being written today. The “had been” is important; there have been complaints that today are readers who gush over “Twilight” who have never heard of “Dark Shadows.”             So here are some, not all, of the books I perused (3) while I was figuring out exactly … Read more

Don’t Like Wonder Woman’s Bisexuality? “Get Over It”

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman writer Greg Rucka has said fans who are upset at the news of the superhero’s sexuality need to “get over it.” Rucka said fans who can’t accept her bisexuality are missing out on part of what makes her who she is. “That’s like saying Superman is into justice and the American way, but doesn’t give a rat’s ass about truth,” Rucka told Gizmodo. “It’s like, ‘Really?’” Rucka explained that the Amazons’ home island of Themyscira gave them little option but to have same-sex relationships. “It makes no logical sense otherwise. It’s supposed to be paradise. You’re supposed to … Read more

When We Knew Wonder Woman Was Queer

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman might be now officially queer, but fans have known this for a very long time. DC Comics writer Greg Rucka confirmed Diana Prince has had relationships with men and women. He also revealed how her homeland, an island of only Amazon woman, is a ‘queer culture’. But if you look back from the decades, even in 1941, Diana was very clearly intended to be an LGBTI icon (and is arguably pretty kinky). By Joe Morgan – Full Story at Gay Star News

Steven Universe

Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar just gave an amazing speech when coming out as bisexual at Comic-Con in San Diego. Sugar comes out, simply saying: “Well, in large part it’s based on my experience as a bisexual woman,” but then she goes on to say a whole lot more. Discussing the importance of speaking to kids about LGBT+ issues, Sugar says not seeing oneself reflected in the stories we are told “changes who you are”. She ends … Read more
