Ana’s Spoons – The Monthly QSF FF Takeover
Welcome to the third monthly celebration of F/F fiction! F/F, by the way, stands for Female/Female (not Fan Fiction) pairings that may or may not be romantic. Today I’d like to kindly ask you to refrain from promoting your own books, friend’s books, publisher, or other services. The goal for today’s discussion is to establish a common ground for future F/F discussions and give new readers a place to start. What was the first F/F speculative fiction book you ever read? Or what was the most influential, and why? Please, as always, keep the discussion focused on F/F only. Also … Read more
Discussion: Why Do We Adore Super Heroes?
Today’s topic comes from QSFer Blaine D. Arden: What is the attraction of Super Heroes? (cause, while I enjoy them in films… I’m really boggled about the attraction in fiction). Hmmm… let’s unpack this a bit. For me, I have always loved the inherent *goodness* in super heroes. The idea that there’s a real force for truth and justice out there. Yeah, I know, not all super heroes are purely good – in fact, many have a dark side, which surely adds to their three dimensionality as characters. But sometimes it detracts from their overall superheroiness, at least for me. … Read more
Dick Grayson and Gay Superhero Midnighter Have a Steamy Encounter
DC Entertainment is serving up some superhero-sized man candy in the latest issue of Midnighter, which centers around the openly gay comic book character of the same name. Hitflix reports that Midnighter #4 features Midnighter and former Robin/current Nightwing Dick Grayson facing off against vampires in Russia. While in Moscow, the two end up in a steam room and well…we aren’t complaining about the visuals. See the Full Story at Towleroad.com

Star Wars: Aftermath Introduces a New Gay Hero
Take one look at the ragtag Rebellion or walk into any cantina and it’s clear the Star Wars galaxy is packed with the full spectrum of many types of life. But historically, it hasn’t been all that diverse when it comes to the human population. With John Boyega’s Finn, Daisy Ridley’s Rey, and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron, The Force Awakens will be the first Star Wars movie in which the young leads are not mainly white guys. In the new novel Star Wars: Aftermath, author Chuck Wendig takes another step forward for diversity, introducing a major gay character to the … Read more
