QSFer Hannah Walker has a new sci fi book out:
After their trip to Berinias is delayed, thoughts turn to both love and the future. Ocania, a day of love for mated pairs, gives the men a treasured day off. But with love in the air, all the Avanti seem to feel the pull, pushing some to go after those they want and try to fulfil their hearts desire.
May your journey be swift and uneventful, may you all get one step closer to your truemates and may good triumph over evil. Remember love conquers all.
This short falls just before book 3.

Bell cocked his head to one side as he studied Corin. “Is there something bothering you? You seem subdued yourself this morning.”
“No, not especially. I’m merely thinking… well, I wouldn’t mind spending some time alone with Kel before we finally leave for Berinias, but with Chance…” Corin let his words trail off as he shrugged.
Bell smiled. Now this was something he could help with. “I’ll take him for the night. You know I don’t mind.”
Corin’s smile was wide. “Are you sure? He’s sleeping through now, and I would make sure you had plenty of milk.”
“Of course I’m sure. What’s not to love about spending an entire night with one of my favorite people?”
“Who are you spending the night with?” Niko demanded from the doorway, a wary expression on his face.
Corin smiled to himself. Oh, there was plenty of jealousy there, and he didn’t have the heart to worry Niko. “Bell has agreed to take Chance for the night tonight so Kel and I can have a night alone together.”
Niko’s smile was both relieved and wide. “Oh! Good thinking, what with it being Ocania.”
“Ocania?” Corin’s nose wrinkled in confusion.
“Um, I thought maybe Kel mentioned it and that’s why you were planning something.”
“Uh, no. So what is Ocania?” Corin watched as Niko bent and kissed Chance on top of his head. He loved how his friends were so accepting of his son, and how much they cared for him.
Niko’s smile was wistful. “It’s a celebration, a mated pair’s celebration. Although, some of the young ones choose to celebrate with whoever they are in love with at the time. But, traditionally, it’s a way to celebrate your love. Most mates choose to make a special day, or evening, of it. A nice meal, romantic gestures, whatever you feel is right in your heart. There aren’t many set practices to it. People often give a gift. It isn’t normally something of a huge monetary value, simply something which expresses their love. The important thing is you spend the time with the one who holds your heart.”
Corin watched Niko— he seemed deep in contemplation about something. He wondered if it was to do with his feelings for Bell. He wasn’t sure why they hadn’t acted on them, but they were definitely drawn to each other— that was painfully obvious to everyone.
“So, how come you know about it if Kel doesn’t?” Bell narrowed his eyes. Oh, he better not be feeling something for anyone else. That man is mine, even if he doesn’t know it yet.
Niko chuckled. “With parents like mine, what do you think? My papi makes sure to always treat my mami like a queen on Ocania.”
Bell’s body seemed to shudder from the sudden release of tension.
Corin turned towards Bell, lifting an eyebrow in challenge. He promptly smirked when all he received in reply was a scowl. Looking back at Niko, his eyes danced in amusement. “I can picture just how much he must spoil her. Their love for each other is such an amazing thing to witness. You know, we have something similar to this. I’m not too sure of the exact history of it, but it’s a day for lovers. It would be great to spend it with my mate. Bell, are you sure you don’t mind taking the little man?”
“Not at all, it’s not as if I have anyone to share the evening with.” Bell shrugged.
“I’ll look after Chance with you.” Niko seemed to brighten at the prospect.
Bell’s answering grin was wide. “I would like that.”
“Although, I’m slightly worried…” Niko trailed off as he studied Chance.
Corin cocked his head to one side, studying Niko. “Why?”
“Because your boy is amazingly sedate this morning. Is he feeling well?”
Corin huffed as Bell sniggered.
“He isn’t that bad.” Corin mock-glared at his friends, sighing as they both shot him looks that were equal parts astonishment and disbelief. “Well, okay, he is, but hey, you love him as much as I do.”
“We do.” Niko grinned before walking over and planting a big kiss directly on Chance’s cheek. “Hey, buddy, you going to have some fun with me and your Uncle Bell later, huh?”
