QSFer Cheyenne Meadows has a new paranormal book out:
Polar bear shifter Graham Tundra can’t believe his bad luck. Not only is he traded to another baseball team midseason, but he’s also teamed up with Trigger Mallow: widely considered the best player in the game—but with the worst attitude.
Trigger is on the fence about Graham. As a grizzly bear shifter, he’s relieved to have another ursine on the team, even if they are different species. The problem is Trigger is in the middle of his natural mating season, and Graham looks too damn good to pass up.
What begins as friends with benefits shows potential to grow into a deeper connection. If only they can put aside their differences, learn to trust, listen to their feelings, and realize it’s more than just a bear thing.
Guest Post
Hello all. Cheyenne Meadows here. I’m excited to be here today and I wanted to thank Scott for allowing me to stop by and share my latest release with everyone.
As many of you might not have heard of me before, let me do a quick snippet. I’ve been a published author since 2012, writing in several genres including M/M paranormal. What can I say? I love shapeshifters! They are my favorite to write with all the angst, the instincts, their additional abilities. So many possibilities and so much sexiness. I hope they capture your attention and imagination as much as they do mine.
Loaded for Bear is a sequel to Friends with Benefits in the Shifter Hardball series. We meet teammates on the Predators baseball team in the first book and revisit them in the second. This time, the tale centers around one cranky-ass catcher named Trigger. He’s a grizzly bear shifter and the best player in the league. The chip on his shoulder is impressive and no one in their right mind would try to knock it off. An injury to one of the pitchers nets Graham, a polar bear shifter and talented pitcher. He’s rebounding from some dismal performances after an amazing debut in the league. Laid back, he’s slow to rile, but that doesn’t deter Trigger from trying to push all of Graham’s buttons.
The only question is which buttons Trigger’s really trying to push.

Excerpt
Graham watched Trigger go, noting the way his long strides ate up the distance. A wide back carried plenty of muscles, easily noticeable with the tug and release of his practice jersey presently tucked in his pants. Speaking of those pants, the white material molded to the most perfect ass Graham had ever seen—and he’d seen more than a few. Whether being a catcher or Trigger’s genetics bore responsibility for such a finely sculpted backside, Graham didn’t know or care. Not when he couldn’t take his eyes off such a fine sight.
Built like a brick wall, Trigger’s physique shouted athlete, power, and top-level predator. No doubt opposing teams’ players thought twice about trying to steal home, knowing they would barrel into such a large unmovable object as Trigger. His prestige across the league carried a powerful weight and threat. To cross his plate meant an opponent was taking a huge risk because Trigger had no problems taking on a full-throttle charge and knocking the runner on his ass.
Any team would love to have him. At least that’s what Graham thought until witnessing this little event. Too bad his temperament had proved less than stellar. Way less. Obviously, Trigger Mallow had passed unpleasant and difficult a while back and now stood solidly in the vicinity of downright confrontational.
“He’s the team prick, never learned to play well with others, and refuses to kiss up to management, no matter what he might gain,” Banner explained.
“Surprised he keeps his spot on the team, then.” Graham caught a whiff of the grizzly shifter carried on the light breeze. All bear with a bit of honey mixed in. A decent combination, all in all.
Banner lifted his baseball cap and wiped sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. “What? Fire the best catcher in all of professional baseball? You’ve got to be insane.”
“Let me guess. He knows how good he is?”
“Yep.”
Puzzle pieces began to click into place. When a player knew his own worth, he carried himself with more attitude than before, a chip on his shoulder, so to speak. Really not an issue, unless you threw in some other factors, such as a grizzly’s typical solitary existence and lack of flexibility in dealing with others. Catchers normally ran the infield, causing them to possess an “in-charge” persona. Add in high intelligence and a knack for remembering tons of details about different pitchers and rival team batters and voilà: a perfect storm.
All going by the name of Trigger Mallow.
Just great. My first day after being traded and I’m teamed up with the biggest, baddest, surliest bastard around.
Tempted to call his agent and demand an exit clause, Graham blew out a weary breath. Could this situation get any worse?
“I suggest you two bond quickly.”
An ominous feeling washed over Graham. “Why is that?”
“Because he’s your roommate for road trips, and we leave in a few days for a weeklong series in Florida.” Banner grinned wickedly.
Well, hell. “Why me?”
“You’re the only other bear on the team right now. Bears like one another, right? Get together in the streams, hunt salmon, and all that. Besides, catchers and pitchers have to know each other pretty well to make things work. This is your chance to become BFFs.”
Obviously the hyena shifter lacked bear knowledge or simply intentionally overlooked some basic facts. Graham would bet on the latter. “BFFs?” Graham rolled his eyes. “Judging by that first impression, we’ll be lucky to survive the trip.”
“Just consider yourself Yogi, and Mallow can be Boo-Boo.”
Graham lifted a lip to show a fang. “Not funny.”
“All depends upon your point of view.” Banner slapped him on the shoulder, then ambled toward the bench.
“Going to stand there all day ogling my ass or actually get to work?” The snarled comment caught Graham by surprise and rubbed him the wrong way. He bit back his temper and fixed Trigger with a firm stare. “Listen, grizzly, I might be the new guy on the block and typically fairly easygoing, but keep pushing and you’ll get what you’re asking for.”
Mallow arched an eyebrow. “What’s that?”
“An ass-kicking.”
For the first time Mallow’s lips twitched almost as if he was amused by the promise. “Don’t get your hopes up, polar.”

Author Bio
Growing up in the Midwest, I began reading romance novels in high school, immediately falling in love with the genre, to the point where I decided to write professionally for a career. However, that dream splattered against a brick wall, resulting in a quick death in my first writing class in college when my professor told me bluntly that I wasn’t any good at it.
I shifted gears quickly, and left my writing dreams behind, eventually settling on becoming a nurse.
A few years back, I stumbled across a fan-fiction writing site on a favorite author’s webpage. I began to read stories others wrote, not only making some wonderful close friends from the experience, but also, really learning to write for the very first time. Here I was able to share short stories, practice my writing skills, and truly develop into a writer. More than that, the experience allowed me to revitalize my dream, as I rediscovered joy in writing.
Now, I spend my days off with my alpha male characters, quick witted heroines, and see how much trouble everyone can get into. When I’m not working or writing, I enjoy working in the garden, canning, and seeing my backyard as a living canvas for my whimsical landscaping, and, of course, reading romance novels.
