Genre: Gay Fantasy Romance
Length: Novel (short)
THE LAND of faery is a wondrous place, full of magic and fantastical beasts. Unfortunately for Puck, the heir apparent to the earth faery throne, his life is full of duty, duty to marry the air prince, Sky. Sky may not be all bad, but Puck has more than just his loyalty to the faery world to consider. He also has a human father, who lives in the human world, and when things start to look like he may never be able to see his father again, he takes a trip to urban Earth… without telling anyone.
Sky is serious about his princely obligations, and although he isn’t thrilled with prospects of marrying the clearly rabble-rousing earth prince, not following through with the marriage could mean war between the faery realms. So what does he do? Once he hears of Puck’s escape, he gives chase, and faery hijinks and love ensue!
One of the things I love about being a book reviewer, is that I’m given novels to read that I wouldn’t normally pick up on my own. This is a story about faeries, with a pink cover–did you know there’s actually a Goodreads list with MM Romance books with mostly pink or purple covers? Yeah, that’s a thing. Even though it’s pretty, I was pretty sure the main love interest in the story was mostly blue, not pink. But whatever. Apparently, as I mentioned above, people have a thing for MM pinkish book covers. Also the novel, based on the cover and the blurb, frankly looks sweet… maybe too sweet, which isn’t really my bag.
But guess what? I liked it!
Yes, this novel was sweet, with very low angst, but I found myself smiling throughout most of this novel, with that sappy little smile I try to reserve for children or animals. And it was pretty freaking hot, or at least it had a good dose of sexy fun time. The bad guys weren’t that bad, and the good guys were innocent and pure, if prone to temper tantrums–just what you’d expect from a faery love story. I also have to say, after reading this, I was seriously craving some pineapple and pig pizza. Seriously.
If you enjoy the arranged marriage trope with sexy faery boys and a happy ending, definitely check out this novel.
