About The Book
Bitten by a werewolf. Taught by a vampire. At this rate, she’s going to start a war.
Literature major Jordan Abbey ordered a double mocha latte, but it wasn’t supposed to come with a side order bite by a love-sick werewolf. When a vampire comes to her rescue, gut instinct tells her he has questionable motives. But he’s the only one she can trust to help get in touch with her inner animal.
Within a week, her smart mouth lands her in trouble with the hostile Alpha of the local pack and the stiff-necked vampire Elder. She now has less than a moon cycle to master shape changing… or else. And the besotted werewolf who started this whole mess is stalking Jordan and killing her friends. He won’t take no for an answer.
In the Northern California town of Rancho Robles where the children of the Wolf and the Bat share an uneasy coexistence, one woman makes an epic mess of the status quo.
The Review
When Jordan goes for coffee, she has no idea how it will change her life, as she gets bitten by a werewolf and then saved by Montgomery, a vampire who manages to shoot the werewolf, gaining him more time to rescue her. Jordan has no idea what has happened when she wakes up in a strange bedroom.
Montgomery and his friend Thorn try explaining to Jordan that she is now a werewolf, and that they are vampires, but no matter how hard they try to prove it to her, she just can’t accept it. Werewolves and vampires exist in novels, not in reality. Montgomery tries to tell her that she is in danger if she leaves, but that doesn’t stop her from running away.
It doesn’t take long before Jordan realizes how right Montgomery was. One of her roommates is killed by Rhys, the werewolf who changed her. With no other choice, she runs back to Montgomery for help. Only now, the Alpha of the Black Oak Pack, Shane, and the elder of Rancho Robles, Marcus, are aware that there’s a new werewolf on the loose.
Jordan is given a choice allow the vampires to protect her by becoming famulus, or joining the pack. She chooses famulus, with Montgomery as her patron. She will basically be a slave, but Montgomery is the man who saved her, and who she is familiar with. Now, the battle between the vampires and werewolves over Jordan is on. Who she will choose once she learns to shift?
Rhys and Jordan are both “Chaos” werewolves – werewolves without a pack – but Rhys seems to be able to hide from those after him. His only thought is finding his mate and the vampire who is keeping her prisoner. He is convinced that his mate would come to him if she was free.
Secrets abound in this action-adventure, and some of them are a doozy. I can’t wait to pick up book two and follow Jordan in the rest of her adventures!
4 stars.
