About The Book

Take a terrifying look inside the twisted mind of a serial killer in this modern day nod to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.

Sean’s nightmares seem psychically connected to Stephen, a loner who lives in the back of the building. After several grisly murders including a dead body reveal like no other, Sean and best friend Anna set out to expose him as the killer despite warnings from Anna’s boyfriend Danny.

The killer speaks directly to the reader and lives by the chilling words he tells his victims, “I’m the last face you’ll ever see, so you will love me forever.”

The Review

Jennifer does what’s best for herself. she’s waited long enough for boyfriend, Gavin, to commit.  Now she’s headed for San Francisco, where she hopes life will be better.

Sean DeGaza is the manager at the Setab Apartments. After a late night hook-up, he hears  a terrifying scream. He starts getting calls from tenants and his friend Anna and boyfriend Danny.  Even though the police have been called, Sean makes the decision to enter Jennifers apartment, with Danny in tow. But they see nothing unusual, except for Jennifers keys still in the apartment.  With not enough evidence, there’s nothing the police can do.

Both Sean and Anna are concerned about Jennifers disappearance, but life goes on as a building manager. Sean still has things to take care of – Adi, one of the tenants, has complained about the trash chute being backed up.

As Sean and Anna make another visit to Jennifer’s apartment, Sean decides to look into the trash issue from there.  With the blockage below, Anna makes an attempt to loosen the blockage and what she finds is horrific. But once again, there’s not enough evidence for the police to do anything about it.

Sean is scared. He starts having continuous nightmares of a dark shadow man in the fog. He suspects a few odd tenants, including weird Mrs. Gordon and her son Norman, but the one that stands out the most is Stephen.

Stephen resides in a more secluded area of the building and Sean has heard strange noises coming from his apartment. He goes to Anna and Danny about it, but there’s still nothing he can do. Sean continues to have the nightmares and no matter how much, he, Anna and Danny try to make sense of it all, they continue.

Sean starts to believe he may even have a psychic connection with Stephen because he is sure the tenant is the killer. Then things get even more terrifying at the apartments.

Anna and Sean, need to put an end to the horror and come up with a plan to catch the diabolical Stephen in the act once and for all.  Will they succeed, or will it be the end for them both?

Converse has created another dark-themed story of raw terror, a psychological tale that takes the reader deep into the mind of the killer and Sean’s nightmares. The story also deals with memories of a dysfunctional family and past abuse.

I’m the Last Face You’ll Ever See is a riveting, twisted tale with the three G’s: gruesome, gory and gritty. Converse holds nothing back when it comes to the very explicit details- you’ll want to read it with all the lights on!

Hi, I’m Maryann, I started life in New York, moved to New Hampshire and in 1965 uprooted again to Sacramento, California.  Once I retired I moved to West Palm Beach, Florida in 2011 and just moved back to Sacramento in March of 2018.  My son, his wife and step-daughter flew out to Florida and we road tripped back so they got to see sights they have never seen.  New Orleans and the Grand Canyon were the highlights. Now I am back on the west coast again to stay! From a young age Ialways liked to read.

I remember going to the library and reading the “Doctor Dolittle” books by Hugh Lofting. Much later on became a big fan of the classics, Edgar Alan Poe, Mary Shelley, Bram Stoker and as time went by Agatha Christie, Ray Bradbury and Stephen Kingand many other authors.

My first M/M shifter book I read was written by Jan Irving the “Uncommon Cowboys” series from 2012.  She was the first author I ever contacted and sent an email to letting her know how much I liked this series.  Sometime along the way I read “Zero to the Bone”by Jane Seville, I think just about everyone has read this book!

As it stands right now I’m really into mysteries, grit, gore and “triggers” don’t bother me. But if a blurb piques my interest I will read the book.

My kindle collection eclectic and over three thousand books and my Audible collection is slowly growing.  I have both the kindle and audible apps on my ipod, ipads, and MAC. So there is never an excuse not to be listening or reading.

I joined Goodreads around 2012 and started posting reviews.  One day a wonderful lady, Lisa Horan of The Novel Approach, sent me an email to see if I wanted to join her review group.  Joining her site was such an eye opener.  I got introduce to so many new authors that write for the LGBTQ genre. Needless to say, it was heart breaking when it ended.

But I found a really great site, QRI and it’s right here in Sacramento. Last year at QSAC I actually got to meet Scott Coatsworth, Amy Lane and Jeff Adams.
