About The Book

Every Gathering, Raine hides from potential mates, knowing that in a society where tri-bonds were the expectation, a wolf wanting a mate all to themselves was an anomaly.

Enter Gabriel. They’d met two years before, both left disappointed when no bondmark appeared on their wrists at that time. Gabriel’s been hunting, but there’s been no sign of Raine, outside of the one brief visit that didn’t end the way he’d hoped for.

Fast forward to the present Gathering. He’s stumbled onto Aiden, a wolf miserable in his own pack due to the way he’s treated. Born with a disability, he knows he can’t keep up, but no one has taken the time to teach him where his true potential lies—until Gabriel that is. Gabriel’s protective instincts kick in almost immediately.

Now Gabriel has one wolf he desperately wants to care for and another who has been hiding from him. Unfortunately, it might not be a challenge Gabriel is up for.

The Review

Waiting for Raine is a romantic story about three wolf shifters with issues.

Gabriel is attracted to Raine when he met him at a waterfall two years back. The attraction led to him getting beaten badly when he tried to defend Raine from unwanted attention. Being an injured wolf who lost a fight does nothing for his social standing. Two years on, Gabe is hoping to see him again during the big annual gathering, where wolves come to find mates or just have a good time.

Raine is one screwed up wolf who has been lied to throughout his childhood and does not trust anyone. He is always on the defensive, and is a vicious fighter when cornered. He keeps everyone at arms length, including his extended family. He is defective, but in what way is something you’ll have to find out by reading the story.

Aiden has a deformed foot, but which one is not revealed to the reader. He has been treated as useless by his family, and when he develops a bond mark on his wrist during gathering they dump him on the stranger he has just met.

Of the three, Aiden is the one we do not get much development on. He’s a nice guy who is a bit needy, and he is going to get those needs met.

The character who is going to take the longest journey to happiness is Raine, and it’s going to be a hard one for him. It does turn around eventually. For me, it’s a bit too much Hallmark, after some quite dramatic and heart rending moments.

That said, I’m really happy for the trio and that they get to make out all the time (as in have full blown sex). I just would like them to do some of it off page. And the story ran a little long for my taste.

By the end of the book, Raine is on the mend, but it’s going to take time for him to fully heal. The wolf society is both good and bad depending whose family you are born into – just like humans but with fangs.

All the other stuff going on is great. If you enjoy omegaverse books with a lot of sex, this story perfect for you.

The Reviewer

Tony is an Englishman living amongst the Welsh and the Other Folk in the mountains of Wales. He lives with his partner of thirty-six years, four dogs, two ponies, various birds, and his bees. He is a retired lecturer and a writer of no renown but that doesn’t stop him enjoying what he used to think of as ‘sensible’ fantasy and sf. He’s surprised to find that if the story is well written and has likeable characters undergoing the trails of life, i.e. falling in love, falling out of love, having a bit of nooky (but not all the time), fending off foes, aliens and monsters, etc., he’ll be happy as a sandperson who has just offloaded a wagon of sand at the going market price. As long as there’s a story, he’s in. He aims to write fair and honest reviews. If he finds he is not the target reader he’ll move on.
