It’s curious talking to all the readers who loved holiday tales and the writers who craft them.
This time, I’m one of the writers. Seven Tricks definitely counts a holiday tale.
Curiouser and curiouser.
This isn’t a time of year when I focus primarily on writing.
Don’t get me wrong. I do my best to stay in practice. I write something every day, working on polishing my craft.
My focus is on other things, though. Christmas shopping. Decorating the tree. Writing an annual letter (this is one of the major projects of the season).
Above all, spending time with my family.
It’s impossible for me to type the word ‘family’ without thinking of the song ‘Auld Lang Syne’ and crying. (Recently, I managed to make a joke about it, which released a lot of built up tension.) Every time I hear it, I think of someone I’ve lost. Someone I never want to forget.
I don’t regret these tears. Sometimes I need to take a moment to mourn. Such moments remind of just how precious the people I still have are. My family. My friends. My readers.
This group.
I can’t begin to express how proud and happy I am to be part of Queer Sci Fi, what an honor it is to be part of your ranks.
When I’m tapped out of ideas, you never fail to inspire me. To revive me with new life and hope.
Thank you for being such a vital source of inspiration, my dearest readers.
