FILM: Goodbye Blue Sky

Goodbye Blue Sky

Filmmaker Brandon Zuck has created a sexy post-apocalyptic thriller about five people who share an abandoned desert motel for the night, and are forced to choose between love and survival.

While walking along a remote, desolate highway, twin-brothers Max (Joshua Smith) and Liam (Zachary Smith) hitch a ride with the trio of Lila (Shalini Bathina), Bobby (Maverick McConnell), and Jagger (Brandon Harris). The five of them take refuge for the night in an abandoned motel. However it’s a night that forces them to make choices from which there is no going back.

We spoke with filmmaker Brandon Zuck for a behind-the-scenes look at the film:

What was your inspiration for this story?

I’ve always been interested in post-apocalyptic stories because they can explore relationships when everything else is stripped away. The twins. The trio. Given family versus found family. A three-way romance that has no name, but doesn’t need one because the world ended. Even LGBT films can under-represent or under-value identities that don’t fit squarely within the L or the G.

It was so interesting and freeing to think of a world where an acceptable answer to sexual identity is: ‘I don’t understand the fucking question.’
