News: The Massive Drone That Will One Day Deliver Your Packages

Two years ago, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos appeared on 60 Minutes to show off what he said would be the future of package delivery: a drone that would fly from Amazon headquarters to dump your goods off at the front door. Today, the company unveiled the latest iteration of its idea, along with actual footage of the drone in flight, in a video narrated by Jeremy Clarkson. It has grown in size and can reportedly fly 55 mph for a distance of 15 miles. Full Story at Towleroad.com

Discussion: Magical Realism

Today’s topic comes from QSFer John Marshall: Magical realism. When we include magic in our paranormal settings, do we look to the real word or do we seek something totally original? If we do choose to use real world cultural traditions, how can we both indulge in poetic licence but also be sensitive to the history of white authors sensationalizing non-western cultures in really shitty ways? This topic is near and dear to my heart, as I often include magical realism elements in my stories. I love how it can add a different element to an otherwise run-of-the-mill contemporary tale. … Read more

Yet Another Star Wars Trailer

Star Wars explosion

Thanksgiving doesn’t really rhyme with Star Wars Episode VII, but given that Disney wants to break the record of trailers before a theatrical release, here’s a brand new trailer full of exclusive footage. This time, the new trailer is all about the bad guy. You may remember him from his crazy-looking lightsaber in previous trailers. As you can see, this year’s dark lord gets the Death March theme from John Williams’ soundtrack. But it looks like he isn’t perfectly trained and he’s still learning a few things from the villain-in-chief. In this trailer, you can also spot Han Solo, the … Read more

It even features appearances by The Force Awakens stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and director J.J. Abrams. Hilarious. Full Story from SF Signal
