Mixing Sci Fi and Paranormal

I like my sci fi hard and pure. But I also like it shaken on the rocks with a good dose of other genres. I’m currently in editing on my wolfman-spaceman series. It mixes paranormal and sci fi elements – although as Angel has pointed out, it’s technically not paranormal as there is a sci fi explanation for the wolfman and his friends. But still, it’s a wolfman-spaceman story. So my question for today – do you ever include paranormal / supernatural aspects in your work? And readers? Do you like your sci fi with a side of paranormal?

Today’s topic comes from QSFer Beth Brock: “How about drugs in a fantasy or scifi setting. Should they be different than drugs we are familiar with, or the same – with weird names to make them sound different.” I thought Angel covered this topic really well in Vassily the Beautiful, where a futuristic drug that’s near-impossible to kick was used as an important plot element. So what will future drugs look like / do? How might they be used in LGBT storylines? A new type of testosterone? A drug that can switch your orientation (or gender) for a night?
